Iran's relations with Iraq is outstanding as compared with other neighboring countries, and we have deepening of ties on our agenda, government spokesman said on Tuesday.

Iran’s relations with its neighboring country Iraq are outstanding in different domains which include religious, economic and fighting against terrorism, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht added in a press conference.

The senior Iranian official expressed the hope that in the upcoming visit of Iraq’s Prime Minister Heydar al Abadi, the three dimensions will be improved.

The Iraqi Prime Minister began his three-day regional tour today with visiting Saudi Arabia. He will visit Tehran in the second leg of its tour.

Elaborating on the content of the verbal message of President Hassan Rouhani to Qatari’s officials, which was conveyed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the spokesman said that the message was on the region’s security and improvement of the bilateral ties.

Qatar has always taken more reasonable positions compared to some other countries, he said, adding that there are some other states in the region that do not follow the wrong, authoritarian policies of Saudi Arabia.

“Qatar is now paying the price of its differing views with Saudi Arabia,” Nobakht said.

In the current situation, all countries should help Qatar to go through the transition, without any new heresy emerging in the region, Nobakht said referring to some Arab states accusing Qatar of supporting terrorism, cutting ties with the gas-rich Persian Gulf country.

“It is not right that cutting ties and economic blockade are good ways to impose one’s policies on the neighboring countries,' he added.

“Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to change the hostile approach to a friendly one, and believes that its is possible to solve the problems through dialogue,” the official said.

The Saudi Arabia by its moves against Yemen and Qatar displayed a violent image of Islam to the world, he said.

“There is a heavy responsibility on the region’s countries, including Iran, in the current situation, to introduce the real, peaceful image of Islam,” he added.
