Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Hungarian counterpart, congratulated the country's National Day.

In his message to János Áder released on Monday, President Rouhani hailed the positive and productive changes in relations between Tehran and Budapest.

I hope for further promotion and deepening of ties between Iran and Hungary and more high-profile engagements between officials of the two nations, he said.

Rouhani also wished prosperity and dignity for the Hungarian president, government and people.

The Hungarian National Day called ' Nemzeti ünnep' is the memorial day of the 1956 Revolution (which – inter alia – aimed at the departure of the Soviet troops from Hungary and free elections).

It also marks proclamation of the Third Hungarian Republic (1989) in the Eastern European country.
