'Useful discussions about counter-narcotics measures were held [in Moscow],' Ali Larijani said referring to his Monday visit to the Russian capital to partake in the international conference 'Members of Parliament vs. Drugs.'
Delegations from Afghanistan's neighboring countries expressed their concerns over the drug trafficking and narcotics activities, Larijani said at the airport upon arrival from Moscow.
According to the United Nations (UN) report, Afghanistan and Myanmar are the two main countries of illicit opium poppy cultivation.
About his travel to Moscow, Larijani said it also led to formation of a joint working group between Iran and Russia to develop economic ties.
In Moscow, Larijani added, he held separate meetings with top parliamentary officials from the participating countries in the international event there.
About 500 delegates including parliament speakers from over 40 countries attended the Moscow anti-drug conference.
