Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad- Javad Azari-Jahromi and Azerbaijan's Minister of Transport, Communication and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade met on Wednesday and discussed ways of boosting cooperatiion.

Jahromi, who participated in the Second Meeting of Information Technology Ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Azerbaijan, said communication technologies can contribute much to the economic development of the countries, as it will bring nations' welfare and employment.

Echoing the Iranian minister's view, Guluzade said in the meeting that boosting cooperation between the two countries' start-ups and holding joint conferences on communication issues can improve the economies of Iran and Azerbaijan.

Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad-Javad Azari-Jahromi is heading an Iranian delegation and delivered a speech in the second IT ministers of ECO member-states.

The Iranian minister also met with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and his Russian and Turkish counterparts Nikolay Nikiforov and Ahmet Arslan respectively on the sidelines of the two-day event.

The ECO, which is an inter-governmental organization, was established in 1985 and has ten members, including Iran, Azerbaijan Republic, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
