Iran's First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi says Iran’s scientific developments are the reason for the West’s opposition to Iran's nuclear energy program.

Pointing to the West’s allegations against Iran’s nuclear energy program, Rahimi said, “Having bombs does not bring progress to a country, but [true] progress takes place in the scientific sector.”

He further noted that Israel’s anti-Iran war threats are nonsensical comments as the Zionist regime of Israel claims to be planning Iran attack whereas it suffered a heavy defeat against the empty hands of the Lebanese Hezbollah.”

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran argues that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Rahimi also referred to the recently produced anti-Islam film saying that Muslims respect all the divine prophets.

“There is no doubt that producers and supporters of this sacrilegious film are even against [such] divine prophets as Moses and Jesus Christ, but Islam respects these prophets and we love them as much as the Prophet of Islam (PBUH),” he said.

Fury over the US-made anti-Islam film produced by an Israeli-American has spread across the Muslim world, with protesters marching on the US embassies and torching the US flags.

The blasphemous film has been made through Jewish donations totaling USD 5 million.
