President Hassan Rouhani made a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on Saturday and called for collective serious action against terrorism.

Referring to the terrorist attacks in France on Friday, the President stressed the need to focus on fight with terrorism.

President Rouhani hoped he would travel to Rome, Italy, at a proper time in future.

Rouhani has decided to postpone his trip to Europe after shocking terrorist incidents in France on Friday night.

Over the phone, President Rouhani also said expansion of Tehran-Rome relations will benefit both the nations and the region.

Referring to martyrdom of 17,000 Iranians by terrorist groups, Rouhani described terrorist activities as scary and disgusting.

He further stressed that terrorists will not achieve their goals while all nations and governments are against them.

For his part, the Italian premier said Iran plays an important role in fight with terrorism.

He said Italy is ready to widen ties with Iran in all fields.

He hoped the Iranian president would soon visit Italy.

France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites in and around Paris yesterday evening that killed at least 120 people.
