President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday urged all organizations to coordinate in order to provide the blast-stricken people in a coal mine in northeastern Iran with proper relief aid.

Through a message, President Rouhani extended condolences to the families of the victims of the explosion occurred in the Azadshahr coal mine in the northeastern province of Golestan on Wednesday.

The huge explosion in the Zemestanyurt coal mine in Azadshahr region situated 90 km east of Gorgan, the capital city of Golestan Province, left 21 dead and 49 others wounded or entrapped in the mine.

Director general of the crisis management office in Golestan province told IRNA that the number of the dead may rise.

President Rouhani has ordered two of his cabinet members, including minister of industry and mine and minister of cooperatives and labor to travel to Golestan province to examine the incident. The two ministers arrived in the province late on Wednesday.

Over 500 miners work at Azadshahr coal mine, 14 km of Azadshahr city which situated in 90 km east of Gorgan.

A three-day mourning has been declared in Golestan province.
