The number of Iranian medical scientists who were named as the one percent highly-cited scientists in the Essential Science Indicator (ESI) ranking system rose to 42, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

According to a statement of Health Ministry Research and Technology Department on Wednesday, the names of Mostafa Ghanei M.D. from Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences, Vafa Rahimi Movaghar M.D. and Mohammad Ali Sahraeian M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Babak Eshrati M.D. from Arak University of Medical Sciences, and Mohammad Taqi Hedayati M.D. from Medical Sciences Unviersity of Mazandaran are added for the first time to the highly-cited Iranian scientists, based on ESI system.

The results were announced in May 2017.

The ESI ranking system results are based on the citation frequency in the selected journals of data bank ISI Web of Science. The data is updated every two months
