During the first five months of the current Iranian year, 1.5 tons of Persian carpet with a value of 120 million dollars have been exported to foreign countries, an Iranian official said on Tuesday.

'The carpet exports in the first five months of this year (March 21-August 22) show 18 percent growth compared to the same period last year,' Head of Iran National Carpet Cetner Hamid Kargar said.

'Although the average annual export of Persian carpet export has decreased from 500 million dollars to 300 million dollars, the decreasing trend has been stopped in the past few years,' according to the official.

The new trend of increase in carpet export is one of the outcomes of the Iran nuclear deal implementation, he said.

The deal was signed by Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany in 2015. Iran accepted to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions lift.
