He made the remarks addressing Iran-Kyrgyzstan Trade Forum.
Referring to historical, cultural and geographical commonalities between Iran and Kyrgyzstan, Zarif congratulated the 25th anniversary of Tehran-Bishkek diplomatic relations.
“Iran was one of the first countries that recognized Kyrgyzstan independence, he said, adding that, “We will not forget the friends who were helpful in hard times.”
Pointing to President Hassan Rouhani trip to Bishkek in December 2016, Zarif said, “Ground is ready for development of cooperation between the two states.”
He called for execution of previous agreements inked between Iran and Kyrgyzstan, adding that the two countries have good potential for cooperation in fields of science, technology, energy, construction, agriculture, husbandry, industry and mining.
“Iran attaches importance to progress, development, security and stability of Kyrgyzstan.”
Zarif noted that in the volatile situation of world today in which extremism and terrorism endanger the region and the world, cooperation and cultural exchange is one of the key solutions of extremism and terrorism phenomena.
Cultural exchange and practicing tolerance guarantees countries’ prosper and prevents spread of terrorism and extremism, he added.
Zarif noted, “We need to make a serious effort to facilitate entrepreneurs’ relations in all fields in particular in financial and banking sectors.”
He voiced hope that agreements inked between the two countries central banks help promotion of cooperation between Iran-Kyrgyzstan private sectors.
Zarif arrived in the Kyrgyzstan capital, Bishkek early Wednesday morning to confer with senior officials of the country.
During his one-day trip to Bishkek, Zarif is expected to meet with the Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev and the country’s Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev.
Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to attend a joint press conference and a lunch banquette with his Kyrgyz counterpart.
Zarif at the end of his one-day visit to Georgia and holding talks with senior officials of the country departed Tbilisi for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday evening.
Foreign minister has been visiting three countries of Turkmenistan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of his counterparts and on occasion of the 25th independence anniversary of these three countries.
An economic and industrial delegation from both public and private sectors are accompanying the minister during this tour.
