He made the remarks in a meeting on Monday with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in Tehran.
“We welcome this position and we have no problem in this regard,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, after Sultan Haitham conveyed Egypt’s willingness to resume relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, the Supreme Leader also described the relations between Iran and Oman as long-standing and deep-rooted, saying, “We believe that the expansion of relations between the two countries in all fields will benefit both sides.”
He said increasing cooperation between Oman and Iran is important because the two countries share the very important Strait of Hormuz waterway.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei warned about the presence of the Zionist regime in the region.
“The policy of the Zionist regime and its supporters is to create discord and insecurity in the region,” he stated. “Therefore, all countries in the region should pay attention to this issue.”
Sultan Haitham, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with meeting Ayatollah Khamenei, saying his country has a policy of expanding relations with neighbors, especially the Islamic Republic.
During the negotiations in Tehran, various fields of cooperation were discussed, he said, expressing hopes that with the continuation of the talks, Iran and Oman would be able to expand their bilateral ties.
Leading a high-ranking delegation, Sultan Haitham arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Sunday at the invitation of President Ebrahim Raisi. He departed Tehran on Monday after meeting Ayatollah Khamenei.
