Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Abdolnaser Hemmati has left Tehran for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).

The conference, themed “Harnessing Digital Transformation and Sustainable Growth: Scaling Investment Opportunities,” will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 25-27 November 2024.

The summit will last three days, and Hemmati is set to give a speech at the ministerial round table.

During a meeting with Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, Hemmati highlighted the importance of expanding Iran's role within the organization.

He stressed the need to hold a workshop aimed at introducing the OPEC Fund to Iranian companies, noting that the involvement of Iranian contractors in the Fund’s projects would be both effective and technical.

Hemmati also emphasized the importance of fulfilling Iran's commitments to the OPEC Fund during this meeting.

Meanwhile, Alkhalifa acknowledged Iran as one of the most valuable countries in the OPEC Fund and welcomed the participation of Iranian investors in joint projects.

He will hold talks with Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Khalid A. Al-Falih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia.
