Sargazi, who traveled to Geneva with an Iranian delegation to participate in the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, spoke on Monday during a session focused on “the human rights impacts of the 12-day attack on Iran by the United States and the Zionist regime.”
He said, “The actions taken by the Israeli regime during its 12-day military aggression against Iran violated numerous principles of international law and dealt a very serious blow to the credibility of international law.”
“The 12-day attack on Iran occurred while the Israeli regime has been engaged in occupation in the region for over 80 years, and has been imposed on the Middle East by extra-regional powers. Not only has the occupation by this regime not ended, but at least half of the countries in the region have so far fallen victim to its occupations, aggressions, and sabotage,” Sargazi added.
He emphasized, "What the Israeli regime is pursuing in our region will never lead to peace and stability; instead, it takes more lives and causes increasing destruction every day."
Sargazi and Forouzanedeh Vadiati, the Director-General of Women and Human Rights Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are part of the Iranian delegation accompanying Naser Seraj, the Deputy Chief of International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights.
The 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council began on September 8th and will continue until October 8th in Geneva, Switzerland.
