Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says Tehran and Ankara must make joint efforts to prevent their strategic relations from being damaged due to remarks by various individuals from both sides.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey are two powerful and effective countries in the region with a lot of historical, cultural and ideological commonalties which have strategic relations and close positions on most political and international issues,” Ramin Mehmanparast said Friday.

Emphasizing on Iran's transparent positions on various political issues, including regional developments, he added that it is quite natural for the two countries to have different views on some regional issues.

Mehmanparast said the best solution to the existing crises is via "consultation and exchanging viewpoints with regional countries” which help countries become closer in their positions.

“Tehran has always expressed its views clearly and sincerely and has made effective attempts to establish stability and security in the region,” the spokesman added.

Mehmanparast emphasized that Iran considers promotion of regional cooperation and opposition to any extra-regional interference in the internal affairs of regional nations as a principle of its foreign policy.
