“Iran is making efforts to enhance the value of trade and economic exchanges with friend and neighboring country of Turkey to 30 billion dollars in a short period of time,” Saeedlou told IRNA on Thursday.
He added that both sides seek to further promote bilateral relations, particularly in trade fields, in bilateral visits by Iranian and Turkish officials.
The vice president noted that Iran is currently exporting natural gas to Turkey and said that both countries are implementing infrastructural projects.
Turkey calls for making investment in Iran's power plants, he noted.
Iran and Turkey have sharply increased the level of their trade ties over the past years. In 2000, the level of the bilateral trade stood at only around USD one billion, but in 2010, it exceeded USD 10 billion. The figure hit USD 15 billion last year.
The two sides seek to raise the value of their bilateral trade to USD 30 billion by 2015.
