Iranian and Turkish officials in a meeting in Istanbul, on Monday, stressed expansion of bilateral relations in the field of media.

Head of Iran's state-run TV and Radio organization, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarqami and his Turkish counterpart Ibrahim Shahin are to explore the avenues of developing cooperation in various media, scientific and cultural arenas between IRIB and Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).

Given the key role media plays in expansion of relations between nations, the IRIB and TRT chiefs would discuss ways to exchange various TV programs including news, training and technical programs.

The IRIB and TRT have previously signed an agreement for further cooperation on film and series-making as well as producing documentary and animations.

Many of the Iranian films and programs have, thus far, been broadcasted by TRT for Turkish audience.
During his visit to Turkey, Zarqami is to meet Iranian residents and attend a press conference in the presence of heads of certain Turkish media.

Zarqami and head of Turkey's TRT met on the sidelines of the 44th general assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) here in Tehran in 2007 and concluded agreements on the expansion of cooperation between the sides.

Following the last meeting held in 2007, Turkish Head of TRT visited with his Iranian counterpart to discuss expansion of bilateral relations in media field in Tehran in 2010.
