The Islamic Republic of Iran has increased the domestic production of oil derivatives at its Lavan refinery in the Persian Gulf, Press TV reports.

“Lavan refinery produced 30 tons of natural gas in 2001 and we now produce 80 tons. We produced 1.3 million liters of gasoline per day in 2010 and now we produce 100,000 liters more per day. We used to produce around 1.7 million liters of gas oil per day and now we produce 3.2 million liters of that product,” the Managing Director of Lavan Oil Refinery Company (LORC) Mohammad-Ali Dadvar told Press TV.

Dadvar further noted that the project of increasing Lavan refinery’s capacity has been carried out by Iranian experts.

“The project of increasing the capacity and production of this refinery has been carried out by Iranian engineers. In addition, the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) project that now we are involved in is also being carried out by Iranian experts. We launched the first phase of this project last year and the production volume of the refinery was increased from 30,000 to 50,000 barrels per day,” he explained.

According to officials, Lavan refinery, which ranks eighth among nine refineries in Iran in terms of capacity to refine oil, produces around five percent of the national fuel output.

Officials have also stated that Lavan refinery will increase its gasoline production from 1.4 million liters per day to 2.8 million liters and its natural gas production from 80 tons per day to 220 tons per day by the end of autumn.
