Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s internationally acclaimed movie Children of Heaven is to go on screen at the 2012 Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF).

Majidi’s Children of Heaven has been selected for the Beach Screening section of the festival, Mehr News Agency reported.

Cinema Paradiso by Guiseppe Tornatore from Italy, E.T. by Steven Spielberg from the United States, Ahmed El Maanouni’s Trances from Morocco and The Brave Hearted Will Take the Bride by Aditya Chopra from India are the other films that have participated in the Beach Screenings section.

Written by Majid Majidi, the movie depicts the story of a brother and sister, who are involved in the adventures revolving around a lost pair of shoes.

Children of Heaven, recorded as Majidi’s third feature-length film, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1998.


Produced in 1997, the family drama gained highly positive critical response from individuals from different parts of the world.

The movie received international awards from the Newport International Film Festival, the Warsaw International Film Festival, and the Singapore International Film Festival.

The 2012 Doha Tribeca Film Festival is programmed to be held from November 17 to 24.
