A large number of Iranian tourism companies are taking part in the world's biggest travel and tourism fair in the German capital city of Berlin.

The five-day event titled Berlin's 47th ITB Tourism Fair wraps up on Saturday and it offers a complete overview of all products linked to either holiday or business travel.

Topics such as environmental and socially responsible tourism along with city travel are among the themes of this year's tourism fair in the German capital city.

A total of 10,086 travel groups from 188 nations have registered to take part at the world's biggest travel trade fair, spread across 26 pavilions.

Indonesia has been selected as the travel fair's partner country for this year.

Iranian representatives of tourism agencies and tour operators are highlighting their country's tourism attractions in Berlin.

The landscape of Iran is diverse and beautiful, providing a range of activities from hiking and skiing in the Alborz Mountains, to beach holidays by the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea all in a single season.

Iran's '20-Year Vision' document projects investment of over $32 billion in the country's tourism sector. The document also predicts that Iran will account for two percent of international tourists by 2025.

Iran has always striven to promote its tourism industry. The country hosted the 6th International Middle-East Tourism Marketing Expo, the largest tourism event in the region in the Southwestern city of Shiraz in late 2009.

The event, which was registered by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), offered a new look at the tourism industry in the region.
