The Iranian athletes won their rivals 3-2 (24-26, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22 and 16-14) on Friday evening Cuba's local time (early Saturday morning Tehran's time).

The victory was Iranian volleyball team’s third in the 2013 FIVB World League.

“My men fought throughout the match, from the first point to the last, without losing spirit even when the opponent kept on scoring points,” Iran’s Coach Julio Velasco said.

Iran and Cuba will face each other again tomorrow.

On June 23, the Iranian volleyball players gained their first victory in the 2013 FIVB World League against Serbia. The National Iranian volleyball team defeated Serbia 3-2 in a match at Azadi Sports Complex in Western Tehran. Iran had lost their first game against Serbia 3-2 two days earlier.
