Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says the final victory belongs to the Syrian nation due to their constant resistance, adding that Syria’s enemies will not reap any benefit from the conflict in Syria.

During a telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Mohammad Jihad al-Laham on Monday evening, Larijani praised the resistance and steadfastness of the Syrian officials and people against ominous foreign plots and the inhumane acts of terrorists in the country.

“Thanks to God, we are witnessing that the situation in Syria is changing positively as a result of the steadfastness and resistance of the Syrian people and leaders against futile machinations of foreign enemies and their terrorist agents,” the senior Iranian official pointed out.

Larijani also referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomatic efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, stressing that Tehran - both at regional and international levels - has reiterated that the Syrian conflict has no military and aggressive solution and that reasonable political methods will be the only solution to the crisis in the country.

Laham, for his part, hailed the sincere efforts, goodwill as well as the principled and reasonable positions taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran at regional and international levels regarding the Syrian crisis.

Laham also criticized certain regional countries for their double standards towards the ongoing situation in Syria.

The positions and approaches of certain regional states regarding the developments in Syria are hypocritical as they intentionally turn a blind eye to the brutalities committed by terrorists and their foreign sponsors.

The Syrian parliament speaker also expressed hope that his country’s problems would be soon resolved as a result of joint diplomatic efforts by justice-seeking countries and the continued resistance of the Syrian nation against foreign conspiracies.

Syria has been gripped by deadly turmoil since 2011.

According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced in the violence.

Reports indicate that Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
