Iran defeated South Korea in straight sets in the final of the 2013 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday, winning their second straight Asian title.

In the match, which was held at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Iran defeated the South Korean team 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19).

In the bronze medal match, China beat Japan 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 25–20).

In September 2011, Iran won the Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship for the first time with a 3-1 victory over China.

Iran defeated Kazakhstan 3-0 and Kuwait 3-0 in the first round.

In the second round, Iran beat Iraq 3-0 and then defeated South Korea 3-1.

The Iranian team blanked Lebanon 3-0 in the quarterfinals and then beat Japan in straight sets in the semifinals.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a message of congratulations to the Iranian volleyball team after their victory in the final of the Asian championship.
