A senior Iranian parliamentarian says uranium enrichment and the possession of the full nuclear fuel cycle are among the country’s “red lines” in its civilian nuclear work.

“We consider uranium enrichment our inalienable right and will under no condition back down from it,” said Vice Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis Mansour Haqiqatpour on Thursday.

“This issue is among our red lines and principles and we insist on enrichment inside the country,” the top MP underscored.

“We are not going to back off from this issue (uranium enrichment) which serves as an achievement for us,” Haqiqatpour stated.

The lawmaker further expressed confidence that during future talks with the six major world powers the Iranian negotiating team would certainly insist on Iran’s enrichment right.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - Russia, China, France, Britain and the US - plus Germany held two days of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear energy program behind closed doors in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 15-16. The two sides agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8.

Iran's top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said on Thursday that nuclear and sanctions experts from Iran and the six world powers are to meet in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on October 30 and 31 in the run-up to the upcoming nuclear talks in Geneva.
