Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian is slated to depart for Japan next week to take part in two energy meetings.

Chitchian's next week visit to Japan is at the invitation of Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Koji Haneda, on behalf of Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

The Iranian minister will attend two meetings on energy efficiency and renewable energy during his stay in the East Asian country.

During a Tuesday meeting between the Iranian minister and Haneda, the pair agreed on expansion of bilateral cooperation over management of water and energy demands, new energies and to stop degradation of environment of Orumiyeh Lake in Northwestern Iran.

Diplomatic relations between Iran and Japan were formally established in 1926 and throughout history, the two countries have maintained a friendly and strongly cooperation in various arenas.

The two countries' officials have held talks in different economic, trade, political and cultural fields in recent years to explore new ways for expansion of bilateral ties.
