Iran’s coast guards have seized two Saudi fishing boats after they intruded into Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, a senior Navy officer says.

Rear Admiral Qalandar Lashkari, the commander of the Bushehr province coast guard, said on Wednesday that the Iranian forces intercepted the two vessels after they were spotted fishing illegally in the Iranian waters.

He stated that the nine crewmembers of both boats, all of them nationals of an unnamed South Asian country, were arrested.

Lashkari said a local court is handling the case.

On January 8, Iranian coast guard seized two vessels from Saudi Arabia that had crossed into Iranian waters to fish.

The Iranian forces arrested their captains and crew members, all of them Indian nationals, and also confiscated the two vessels’ catch of 500 kilograms of fish.
