Maradona to Attend Unveiling Ceremony of Iran's Football Squad's Jersey

Sport - Iran's Football Federation President Ali Kafashian said that Argentine soccer star Diego Armando Maradona plans to visit Iran to take part in the unveiling ceremony of the Iranian national team's jersey in January.

Kafashian said Maradona has been invited to participate in a ceremony to be held in Tehran adding that some other sport figures have also been invited.

Maradona will probably be in Iran in January 2014 for the purpose in exchange for receiving a sum of 100,000 dollars. He would in turn wear Iranian jersey in support for Iranian team while taking part in a game with Argentine.

Early agreement to that effect has reportedly been reached between Maradona and Iran Football Federation.

The only point of concern is that Maradona might not take part in the Iran-Argentine game while wearing Iranian national team jersey. If so, the pay will be subtracted from a deal already signed with him.

The National Iranian football team was drawn with the Latin American Argentina, the African Nigeria and the European Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Group F of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The drawing ceremony for the Football World Cup was held in Salvador city of the Brazilian state of Bahia on Friday.
