Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a meeting in Moscow, underlined the need for the further expansion of the relations between the two countries.

During the meeting in the Russian capital on Thursday, Zarif conveyed President Rouhani's warm greetings to President Putin, and said, “Tehran is seriously pursuing the agreements between Iranian and Russian presidents in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, earlier in 2013.”

The Iranian foreign minister reassured Russia of Tehran’s willingness for the enhancement of mutual cooperation with Moscow in different areas.

President Putin, for his part, responded to his Iranian counterpart's warm greetings and pointed to friendly relations between the two countries, and said, “Iran and Russia should expand their mutual cooperation in different areas, specially in trade and economic fields.”

Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in a meeting on Thursday conferred on the latest developments in the two countries’ bilateral relations and regional issues, specially the Syrian crisis.

During the meeting, Zarif expressed satisfaction in the current level of Tehran-Moscow cooperation, stressing the two will continue growing relations.

He said Iran and Russia have been enjoying important relations as two old neighbors.

Tehran-Moscow relations, he said, are in line with their bilateral strategic interests.

Zarif added that a meeting in September 2013 of the two countries presidents in Kyrgyzstan has prepared the ground for fostering bilateral ties between the two capitals.
