An Iranian lawmaker underlined that the recent irresponsible comments by the US officials have no result but spoiling the international efforts made for the successful implementation of the Geneva nuclear deal between Iran and the six major world powers.

“After (reaching) the Geneva agreement, Iran expects the Group5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) to pave the way for the implementation of (this agreement) through goodwill and the improvement of ties,” said Rapporteur for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini on Saturday.

“They should not take measures or make remarks which will halt the implementation of the Geneva deal,” he added.

He described certain remarks by US officials as “irresponsible” and against the Geneva deal and said such statements cast doubt on US goodwill.

The Iranian lawmaker pointed to the US officials’ threats of military action against Iran and said such rhetoric could hamper efforts to carry out the nuclear deal with Iran.

US Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman said on Tuesday that the six-month interim agreement that was reached with Iran was "not perfect" but it bought time to try to secure a comprehensive deal.

On Thursday, the Iranian legislators asked the government to give a crushing response to the recent remarks made by a number of US officials against Tehran.

Members of the parliament in a statement on Thursday urged the government to give a crushing response to the vulgar words made by Sherman about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Some 190 out of the total 290 parliamentarians, in a statement read out during an open session of the parliament this morning, described Sherman’s remarks as nonsense, saying she was talking palaver.

In relevant development, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday slammed Sherman for her recent remarks against Iran, and advised her to make statements based on realities.
