The National Iranian football team was drawn with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain in the Group C of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup scheduled to be held in Australia in January 2015.

The AFC on Wednesday announced the grouping of the Asian Cup 2015 which is as follows:

Group A: Australia (63), Korea Republic (60), Oman (81), Kuwait (110)

Group B: Uzbekistan (55), Saudi Arabia (75), China PR (98), DPR Korea (133)

Group C: Iran (42), UAE (61), Qatar (101), Bahrain (106)

Group D: Japan (48), Jordan (66), Iraq (103), Winner of AFC Challenge Cup 2014 (Maldives, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Philippines, Afghanistan or Laos)

The Final Draw for the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 was held in Sydney, Australia, in presence of the AFC President and officials of the football federations of Australia, Iran, Japan and Korea Republic are the nations qualified for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The 2015 AFC Asian Cup will be the 16th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, an international football tournament, that will be held in five Australian cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Canberra – from January 9 to 31.

The winner of the tournament will earn the right to compete for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup hosted by Russia.
