Next Iran-Sextet talks to be held in New York
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says representatives from Iran and the six world powers will hold the next round of expert nuclear talks in New York in May
Araqchi said negotiations will be held from May 5-9 on the sidelines of a session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 NPT Review Conference.
The Iranian official said the talks will take place a few days ahead of the new round of high-level negotiations between Tehran and the six countries, which is scheduled to be held in the Austrian city of Vienna on May 13.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, France, Britain, Russia, and China - plus Germany wrapped up their latest round of high-level talks aimed at reaching a comprehensive deal on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program on April 9.
The two sides sealed an interim deal in the Swiss city of Geneva on November 24, 2013 to pave the way for the full resolution of the decade-old dispute with Iran over the country’s nuclear energy program. The deal came into force on January 20.
