Iranian Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht rapped the western countries for their biased stances against Human Rights conditions in different world countries, saying the West is making an instrumental use of the issue to attain its goals.

Any of the foreign governments that claim to be advocates of Human Rights, it is just referring to its own nations and if necessary they will easily push aside other nations under different pretexts and sanction them," Nobakht said, addressing a provincial meeting in Qazvin on Saturday.

"When these states speak of human rights, they are just thinking of the rights of their own nations and advancing their own interests and they are ready to annihilate all nations through different means, such as sanctions and aerial bombings, to attain their goals," he added.

Nobakht's remarks came after the European Parliament in a recent meeting in Brussels approved a resolution against the human rights situation in Iran.

The Europeans' move has angered officials in Tehran as it has been adopted after the western states voiced their consent and pleasure in the betterment of ties with Iran following a breakthrough deal over Tehran's nuclear program.

Earlier this month, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Greek Ambassador to Tehran Nikolas Garilidis and express Tehran's official protest against the EP resolution. Greece holds rotating presidency over the European Union (EU).

Speaking at a meeting with Garilidis, the director-general of West Europe affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry dismissed as “unacceptable and unrealistic” the European Parliament’s resolution which accuses Iran of human rights violations.
