South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-Se underlined his country's enthusiasm for the development of all-out relations with Iran, and said Seoul attaches much importance to its ties and cooperation with Tehran.

"Seoul attaches special importance and value to its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Byung-Se said in a meeting with Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Seoul on Wednesday.

He pointed to the exchange of political and parliamentary delegations between Iran and South Korea in recent months, and expressed the hope that the positive developments in the relations between the two countries would lead to the further enhancement of ties in different political, economic and cultural arenas.

Boroujerdi, for his part, referred to the abundant economic potentials in Iran and South Korea, and expressed the hope that longer strides would be taken for the expansion of all-out relations between the two countries.

He also announced Tehran's readiness for mediation between Seoul and Pyongyang to improve ties between the two Koreas.

Iranian and South Korean officials have been trying to bolster the relations between the two countries, specially in economic fields, in recent months.

In May 2013, Head of Iran-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group Iraj Nadimi and the South Korean ambassador to Tehran, in a meeting in Tehran, discussed avenues for boosting bilateral ties, specially cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.

During the meeting, Nadimi pointed to the good and friendly ties between Iran and South Korea, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran and South Korea have abundant economic and industrial capacities and capabilities which should be used for the expansion of mutual cooperation with the help of parliamentary friendship groups and parliaments of the two countries."

The South Korean envoy, for his part, underlined the importance of parliamentary friendship groups in the enhancement of bilateral ties between Tehran and Seoul.

Also in March, Deputy Head of Trade Development Organization of South Korea Kiman Nam and Managing Director of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Saeednejad, in a meeting in Tehran, discussed ways for increased presence of South Korean vessels in Iranian waters.

Managing Directors of South Korean Hyundai, Pan Ocean and Hanjin shipping lines who took part in the meeting highlighted boosting the mutual cooperation on ports, sea and shipping lines.
