Deputy Foreign Minister for Afro-Arab Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said here on Thursday that the Syrian crisis can be only resolved through political means.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the United Nations Special Coordinator of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Syria Sigrid Kaag.

Given the fact that some parties support the shipment of weapons to Syria, he stressed that no one could be optimistic about the future of regional security.

He also described the Zionist regime as a center of threat in terms of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in the region and in the entire world.

Kaag, for her part, appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support for establishment of peace and security in Syria.

ˈIt is a collective success that would be fully achieved through the constructive support of Iran and Syria,ˈ she added.
