President Hassan Rouhani hoped for one-digit inflation rate in two years.

He made the remark here Tuesday morning in his opening address to the nationˈs biggest economic gathering which aims to outline governmentˈs policies to end recession.

 

He voiced his administrationˈs determination to move in line with policies to control inflation rate.

 

Stressing the water shortage problem the country is facing with, he said it seems there would be no better rain conditions in coming years as Iran is situated in the worldˈs drought belt.

 

The president noted that the government has made plans to spend minimum two billion dollars on anti-drought projects annually.

 

As for environment conditions, he referred to the numerous problems existing in the country like air pollution in big cities, the drying lagoons, tiny particles in the air and disappearing forests in Zagros Mountains.

 

He pointed to the plannings and programs made since the inaugration of his government, some eleven months ago and stressed that environmental issues should be given the highest priority.

 

Turning to the issues of health and medicine, President Rouhani said his cabinet was proud of taking major steps to reduce costs of healthcare and medical services for the people.

 

He said people paid for only seven percent of costs in government-owned hospitals in cities while the figure was 5 for rural areas.

 

The President further outlined Iranˈs present economic conditions and said the results of the policies and programs adopted in this regard will emerge in near future.
