Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham urged the US administration to remain committed to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

She regretted the violent treatment of the Afro-American teenager Michael Brown by the US police and shooting him before completion of any legal procedures.

She called on the US government to fulfill its commitments as a member of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further deplored the targeted suppression of the American black community by the US police and judiciary system followed by public protests.

She said such a behavior clearly discloses the human rights violations against colored citizens in America.

She said this is while the US government every year submits numerous reports on human rights violations in independent countries.

Afkham further extended her condolences to the family of the victim of the violent incident and highlighted the need for fair treatment of the case.

She said the racial discrimination was certainly a topic which was the center of many anxieties in the US society today.

She insisted that the voice of the American black community which seeks justice and elimination of racial discrimination should be heard and responded according to the human rights principles.

More than one week has passed since violent protests broke out in the US city of Ferguson over the killing of the unarmed black youth.
