Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday congratulated triumph of the Palestiniansˈ resistance over the Zionist regime of Israel.

 

Speaking in a public session of the parliament, he said that Israelˈs defeat by the Palestinian nation was the result of the resistance toward the Zionist regime and its western allies.

 

Palestinian resistance movements proved that they have the capability to liberate occupied lands, Larijani said.

 

The speaker called for the immediate removal of Gaza blockade and realization of Palestiniansˈ demands stipulated by the cease-fire agreement.

 

Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli officials on Tuesday reached a deal on a permanent cease-fire for the blockaded Gaza Strip.

 

The truce will rid the territory of its seven-year-old blockade.

 

Israel launched an aerial military onslaught against Gaza in early July and later expanded its operation with a ground invasion.

 

More than 2,137 Palestinians, including around 570 children, have been killed so far in the Israeli atrocities on Gaza. Some 11,000 others have been wounded.

 

Most of the victims were civilians, including children, women and the elderly.

 

Tel Aviv says 68 Israelis were killed in the conflict, but Hamas puts the number at more than 150.
