Azerbaijan is ready to consider participation possibility in the organization of the Iranian oil supply for Russia via the model of trilateral swap agreements, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said.

We have already established links in the electricity sector. This is possible, but is not concrete yet," the diplomat said, Trend reported.

At present Azerbaijan provides swap gas supplies to Iran in order to provide the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) with gas.

Azerbaijan and Iran are connected by Gazi-Magomed-Astara-Bind-Biand pipeline with the length of 1,474.5 kilometers, including the territory of Azerbaijan - 296.5 kilometers. This route is a branch of the Gazakh-Astara-Iran pipeline, which was put into operation in 1971. Three compressor stations in Gazi-Magomed, Agdash and Gazakh were built on this road. Diameter of the pipeline is 1,200 mm.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has been exporting gas to Russia under the contract with Gazprom signed in Baku October 14, 2009.
