President Hassan Rouhani attended the Majlis (Parliament) meeting on Wednesday to defend the qualifications of the proposed candidate for minister of Science, Research and Technology.

Special Presidential Aide Hossein Fereidoun, Interior Minister Abdol-Reza Rahmani-Fazli, Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi, Senior Presidential Advisor Mohammad-Reza Sadeq, Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Majid Ansari, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education Hassan Qazizadeh-Hashemi, President's Office Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian were also accompanying the president.

On October 22, President Rouhani introduced Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi to Majlis as his proposed minister of Science, Research and Technology.

 In a letter to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, he nominated Nili Ahmadabadi as his proposed minister for the post according to Article 133 of the Constitution. 

At the Wednesday Majlis meeting, he will be given some minutes to defend the nominee for the ministerial post. Afterwards, two lawmakers will speak in favor, and two against the proposed candidate.

Later in the session, the nominee will present his views and plans for 30 minutes.
