ISIL and other terrorist groups have been created as a result of the western states' policy of preventing the progress and development of the regional nations, Iran's Human Rights Chief Mohammad Javad Larijani said.

"Today, what we are witnessing in the region, specially the savage crimes of the terrorist groups like ISIL, is the result of the hegemonic and anti-development approach of the westerners since they don’t recognize the Muslim states' right of development and believe that the Muslim countries shouldn’t grow in action, and most of the pressures exerted on Iran under different pretexts are in line with this view," Larijani said in a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Human Rights Minister Abdulkareem Abdullah Shallal.

The meeting was held on Friday on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group meeting to review Iran's human rights record at the (UN) European headquarters in Geneva.

Larijani underlined that a close look at the terrorist acts in the region shows that the US and its allies are benefiting from them, while the regional Muslim states are being burnt by the terrorists and their developmental projects have come to a halt due to the terrorists' threats.

He also described the terrorist attacks in Iraq as a crime against humanity, and underscored Tehran's support and readiness to help Baghdad in its war terrorism.

In relevant remarks in September, a senior Iranian lawmaker lashed out at Washington for supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorists group in the Middle East, and said the anti-ISIL coalition has been formed by the US and its allies to save the Takfiri group from total annihilation.

"The ISIL Takfiri group has been formed by the US and its European allies and it is supported by them," Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told FNA.

The prominent legislator reiterated that the US and its allies are seeking hard to save the ISIL Takfiri group through their anti-ISIL showoff moves.

"The US request for Iran's cooperation in fight against ISIL is only a political game and a show of war on terrorism," Boroujerdi said, underlining that all terrorist groups, including the ISIL, enjoy the support of the arrogant powers and their regional allies.

"The Americans have imposed the Takfiri groups, including the ISIL, on the Muslim countries such as Syria and Iraq and they have fomented and start this regional crisis," Boroujerdi stated.
