Secretary of Iran's Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani lashed out at Washington for adopting a dual-track approach towards terrorism, particularly towards the ISIL terrorist group

"I should say that this human crisis is the outcome of the failed policies of the US and a number of its allies in the region," Larijani said on Friday.

He strongly criticized the US policies for trying to replace the democratically-elected government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad with the merciless ISIL forces, and said, "They supported and armed terrorist groups instead of supporting a democratically-elected government."

In September, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi underlined the necessity for consistent and unbiased campaign on the terrorist groups, including the ISIL, in all countries without discrimination.
