President Stresses Iran's Respect for Religious, Ethnic Minorities

Politics - Iran's President Hassan Rouhani extended his congratulations to Iranian and foreign Christians on Christmas time, and underlined that the country's religious and ethnic minorities are conducting a peaceful life in Iran.

In a message to Christians in Iran and all over the world, President Rouhani said Iranians have always had a good experience of co-existence with their Christian compatriots.

"We are proud of an Iran which is the home of all Iranians including Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians and we know that respect for all religions is the valuable teaching of Islam," said the president.

Rouhani also said the intellectuals in the Islamic and Christian countries are duty bound to get people acquainted with the spiritual message of religions and stand against the deviation from divine faiths.

Iran's Constitution has officially recognized Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism as divine religions alongside Islam and their followers are having a peaceful life and friendly relationship with each other.
