Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorist Attack on Strategic Town in Daraa Province

Politics - The Syrian army launched a series of fresh military operations in Daraa and thwarted a terrorist attack on a strategic town in the province.

Meantime, the Syrian troops liberated villages in Abu al-Zohour area. The Syrian troops also killed and injured many terrorists in al-Hamidia, Tal Salmo, Abu al-Zohour, al-Majas, Um Jrin and al-Bia’at.

Many of foreign terrorists were also killed and others injured during army operations targeting their dens and gatherings in Tal As, al-Maziona, al-Doir and al-Khafia.

Also, army units carried out a series of operations against terrorists' hideouts, killing and injuring tens of them in Khan Sheikhon and in al-Tamani’a town.

In al-Akrad Mountain, the Syrian army killed a number of terrorists and destroyed their equipment in a series of special operations, while in Maqlaa al-Tibat in Jisr Ashugour area the army inflicted heavy losses upon terrorists during operations targeting their hideouts.

Elsewhere, the army units repelled a terrorist attack which targeted Ark gas field, while other units killed many terrorists that were planning to attack Maksar al-Hisan and Jub al-Jarah villages in Homs countryside.

Elsewhere, the Syrian army launched a fresh round of military operations in the Northern parts of the country and entered the city of Aleppo after laying a siege on the city for several weeks.

The army units entered the Aleppo with tens of armored vehicles to ensure liberation of the city.

A senior local commander told FNA that the army is very close to beginning its attacks on the terrorists' positions in the surrounding areas of the Aleppo city as well.

"We will not allow the terrorists to leave Aleppo after the city's siege has been completed and our Kurdish brothers will cooperate with us in fighting our common enemies who are Takfiri terrorists," the commander said.

The Syrian army's fresh operations in Aleppo city came while similar operations are underway in Damascus, Quneitra and Daraa.

Meantime, the Syrian fighter jets carried out multiple airstrikes against the rebels' positions in the vicinity of two towns in Aleppo province, leaving unknown losses.

The airstrikes were launched against the rebels in the towns of Nubul and Zahra in the countryside of Aleppo.

The strikes claimed the lives of too many rebels and drove out the Takfiri groups from the Shiite-populated towns.

Elsewhere, foreign-backed rebels sustained a heavy toll in the suburbs of Quneitra and Lattakia provinces, as the Syrian army intensified its attack on the armed groups.

The army struck a major blow at the militants in the village of Samdanyeh in Quneitra, killing and injuring a large number of them.

Also, the army troops raided the strongholds of the terrorists in the villages of Saukkaruya and al-Souda in Lattakia, and left scores of them dead.

Also, the militants suffered major losses in the areas of al-Muray’a and al-Jafra in Deir Ezzur province, as the army continued to make more gains in the area.

Syria has been the scene of insurgency since 2011 when certain western powers and their regional allies voiced loudly that Syrian protests have no diplomatic solution and they started supplying the country's opposition groups with their arms and funds.

In 2014, specially after victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the country's presidential election, the army has gained upper hand in its anti-terrorism campaign, and has been partly successful in sealing borders with Turkey and Jordan.
