Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano's Thursday visit to Tehran was constructive and helped promote mutual understanding, Iran's Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi said.
Amano's visit to Tehran and his meetings with senior Iranian officials was useful and constructive, Najafi said on Thursday.

Held in an interactive atmosphere with understanding, Amano's trip paved the way for both Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog to explain and address their concerns, the envoy stated.

"In the course of the meetings, the two sides reached a general understanding about the timetable (and) continuation of cooperation by taking into account Iran and the agency's considerations for accelerating the settlement of the past issues," Najafi added.

He also noted that "coordination meetings" will be held soon to define the details and the timetable for measures the two sides would take at the level of experts.

During his one-day visit to Tehran on Thursday, Amano met Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani and President Hassan Rouhani.

In the meeting with the president, Amano appreciated Iran's cooperation with the IAEA, saying the previous inspections have all confirmed that Iran has always honored its commitments and there has been no deviation towards military purposes in its nuclear activities.
