Iran's President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to address the nation in a live televised speech following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), his office said Monday.
"With the conclusion of the nuclear negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Group 5+1 countries, Hojatoleslam Hassan Rouhani, the president, will directly address our country's… people in this regard," Parviz Esmaili, the deputy for communications and information at the president's office told Tasnim.
He said the live speech will be broadcast on various channels of the Iranian television as well as international TV networks.
Esmaili noted that the exact time of the televised address will be announced later.
His comments came after AFP reported on Monday that President Rouhani is going to address the nation on state television at 1730 GMT.
The president's appearance was announced by Iran's Culture Ministry in a notice sent to media which said he would talk about the negotiations taking place in Vienna, AFP said.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (alternatively known as the P5+1 or E3+3) have been holding meetings in Vienna over the past two weeks to nail down a historic deal on Tehran's nuclear energy program.
They have given themselves until Monday to reach the long-awaited accord. An initial self-imposed deadline of June 30 has been extended three times in the past two weeks.
