Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi confirmed on Wednesday that six Iranian nationals were among the victims of the terrorist attack.

Qashqavi said one Iranian was killed and 5 others were wounded in the overnight attacks at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport.

Three terrorists armed with bombs and guns opened fire and blew themselves up in Istanbul’s main airport late on Tuesday, killing 36 people and wounding 147.

The attack on Europe's third-busiest airport was one of the deadliest in a series of suicide bombings in recent months in Turkey.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said signs pointed to Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group being behind them.
