President Hassan Rouhani sent a message to Italian newly-appointed Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni congratulating him on taking office.

The president expressed hope that relations between Iran and Italy will further expand to benefit the interests of both countries during Gentiloni's term in office.

President Rouhani wished good health and success for Gentiloni and prosperity for the Italian nation.

Gentiloni, who served as Italian foreign minister, was appointed as the prime minister on December 11.

Gentiloni submitted a list of ministers to President Sergio Mattarella on Monday to form new government.
