Head of the Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday that Iran’s nuclear industry stays on its right track and it is expected construction of two new power plants in Bushehr next year will create job opportunities for about 10,000 people.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 11th anniversary of Iran's National Nuclear Technology Day, he said in last year the country experienced much turbulence such as demise of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani and a number of other outstanding figures, but the nuclear industry continued its activity and is to continue the path in the current year as well.

Nuclear industry can help create job opportunities in industry, oil and health sectors, he said.

Launching new developing projects in the sector prevent transit of foreign currency from the country, Salehi said.

The accelerator which went into operation in Ghazvin prevent at least transfer of $10 -15 million and the new accelerator has been manufactured in the country, he said.

There is no doubt that continuation of such policy will lead to saving of huge amount of foreign currencies, Salehi said.

Reaching to self-sufficiency should be our goal and this helps us overcome all problems in the sector, he said.

Foreign ministry is now following up breaking promises for import of some 900 tons of uranium from Kazakhstan to Iran and hope to be resolved soon, he said.

Three major nuclear projects in Ghazvin, Albourz and Yazd provinces were inaugurated which play significant role in the country’s nuclear program, Salehi said.

Iranian scientists are now active in various sectors such as exploitation, excavation, research and development, IR6 and IR8 machines, he said.

Some 42 nuclear projects went into streams on Sunday in a special ceremony marking the 11th anniversary of Iran’s National Nuclear Technology Day such as high temperature condensate pumps for centrifuges at Bushehr power plant and reservoir rocks for centrifuges, he said.

A number of other nuclear projects were also inaugurated by President Hassan Rouhani via video conference in different provinces on the same day.
