'The Kabul government has requested Iran to export its gas to Afghanistan,” Deputy Oil Minister Hamid-Reza Araqi told reporters on the sidelines of Iran Oil Show 2017 on Monday.
Araqi, meantime, pointed to Iran’s gas exports to Iraq, and said, “The financial problems are currently being resolved.”
He went on to say that a meeting was held to discuss the issue and it was agreed that Iran’s gas export to Iraq will start after the opening of the letter of credit (L/C).
“Iran has now the capacity of exporting 50 million cubic meters of gas per day to the Iraqi cities, including Baghdad and Basra,” the deputy oil minister noted.
Asked about gas talks with Oman, Araqi said that Tehran and Muscat have made progress in their negotiations.
As the official noted, supply of energy has been ensured in the recent years due to the endeavors made by the Iranian government that took office in August, 2013.
The 22nd Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, attended by 4,500 national and international companies, started work in the Iranian capital on May 6 for four days.
