Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Saturday discussed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and regional cooperation over phone.

Hamid Abutalebi, political director of the Iranian presidential office said in his twitter account that Putin has congratulated Rouhani on his re-election.

Rouhani won a landslide victory on Friday by garnering over 23.4 million votes (57 percent of more than 41 million cast ballots) and became president for another four-year term.

The Russian president said that Moscow is committed to its obligations enshrined in the JCPOA, Abutalebi said.

Putin also called for boosting economic and political cooperation between Tehran and Moscow and working together in fighting terrorism and establishing security in the region, political director of the Iranian presidential office was quoted as saying.
