Chairman of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission Mahmoud Vaezi on Thursday arrived here to attend the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2017).

Vaezi who is also Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, is expected to attend a number of working meetings on the sideline of the forum.

Deputy Minister of Petroleum for International Affairs and Trading Amir-Hossein Zamaninia, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Mohammad Khoddadi and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mahdi Sanaei will also attend the SPIEF 2017 public and special panels.

The IRNA chief has been invited by TASS Russian News Agency Director General Sergei Mikhailov to participate the event.

The 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2017) kicked off in the Russian cultural capital (St. Petersburg city) on Thursday.

The annual event has become Russia’s leading gathering of heads of state, business leaders, as well as world experts representing science, media, and civil society. They will discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole. The motto of this year’s forum is ‘In Search of New Balance in the Global Economy.’

Iran and Russia cooperation has developed after execution of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action reached between Iran and G5+1(US, UK, Russia, China, France plus Germany) in 2015 and the two countries have inked several cooperation documents in various fields.
